Vetbond
it comes in a 2ML. vial, and the
ingredients are: n-butyl, cyanoacrylate with a monomer stabilizer. This is the same as Dermabond at a much cheaper cost, Vet Supplies. http://www.fensende.com/Users/swnymph/refs/glue.html
Hi, this is Sherri Holley CPM. Ive been glueing for about 12 yrs now and this is how I glue. I personally use TB syringes to glue. Place your needle in to the tubes/vial and draw up 1/4th cc, for a 1 degree tear. (less for a much smaller repair). If I am at the bottom 2 doses I still use a TB syringe however, I place a longer needle on to reach properly so I dont lose any glue.
Place your TB needle back on syringe. Keep the area as dry as possible- sterile gauze or tampon in vagina. I also place a gad pad rolled up and place on moms rectum- in case the glue drops down there.
For your repair, I start at the bottom using a tissue forceps to hold the area closed after I place a drop of glue. Hold for 10 seconds. It will harden up rather quickly, crusty like. Then I repeat the steps, until I am at the apex. I do not use a continuous bead but rather drops every so often. All your doing is approximating the tissue together. I have moms avoid a bath for the first day-just in case. I have them feel what the glue spots are like, and let them know that the glue with start coming off in 3-5 days. They have more freedom in movement, as well as no xyocaine injections. Moms love this way of repair. And I find it much easier than suturing, for me and the mom. It takes several minutes to repair after you get the hang of it.
